Got a new pic from chalks website.back panal layout on open frame screen.Attachment 69434
That picture is quite a bit different than my 10" screen set up.
I have it mostly working. The picture quality is great but I don't have the backlight working yet. It came with the ambient light sensor but I don't have that triggering yet. The touch is very accurate right out of the box, I haven't even run the configuration yet.
How is the side angle veiwing?...and i assume its at mid brightness now (default)...but the sensor just trimms it up and down as needed I was just looking at the 10.1 on there website.yours has the smaller board right.
What are the measurements for this screen? I have a place I am looking to put a 10' screen but want to see if it will fit..
Before I go to bed I wanted a real update for you guys.
First off, the ambient light sensor is working, I just didn't have it in direct enough light. Reading on their website you can just short the right connections to cause max brightness all the time or hook it up to a potentiometer instead. I think I'm just going to make sure it's placed somewhere in the car that will ensure full brightness during daytime.
As far as side angle viewing, I would describe it as "full". At a certain point the angle gets so extreme you can't make out the image, but the pixels never stop showing. I took a quick and dirty video to show that to you guys, along with a couple of pictures. The first was straight on and the flash created that bright spot, but it's a better picture in terms of representing image quality compared to the second one.
One last thing. There is a USB port on the controller board that I'm not sure if it's necesary. I'm using the screen without it because there is a direct USB connection from the screen to the computer. I'm wondering if to get full functionality if I need to hook it up, but touch is working without it. I haven't experimented with multitouch yet though. I really have only tinkered for a few minutes.
Can you give actual measurements of the 10" screen?
I am looking for a capacitive 10" screen but think it needs to be standard and not wide screen. I have not been able to find one yet. Thinking maybe I should just get a touch pad and forget about having a touch screen.
I am pretty green at all of this so pardoned my ignorance.
I would like to order the 10 and hook up a IPhone 4s via Hdmi and JB Display Out. The 7 back looks straight forward but the 10 I dont see how it directly connects. Anybody know if the 10 can receive video from a IPhone (hdmi cable) using Display Out? Also the 7 has an audio out. Where would you hook up you audio with the 10
Lastly I was going to utilize the MimicsX2 for the touch screen which I am waiting to hear if that is possible. I did notice that the 7 and I think the 10 connection on the LCD board is a Mini USB the Mimics is a 4 ribbon connection. How would I connect the two if it can work with the 7 or 10?
Really not sure when the 7" will be available and i kind of like the size of the 10"
Appreciate your guys feedback
If you can find something other than the Mimics to do your work for you I would strongly suggest doing so. If you check the android thread and read the pages and pages of complaints against "Dave" you will see that you are very likely to be getting involved in something that might work fine if you ever actually get the device but over the past 6+ months his "customers" have been lied to and misled to string them out until he could produce product. You may luck out and get a great product right away or get stuck getting put off for months until receiving the product if you actually do eventually get it. From the examples given He won't get $1 from me even if his product is the best thing since sliced bread. Just make sure you read the Android thread before you decide to send him any money. Feel free to ignore any of the messages I posted in the thread. The information given speaks on its own. Beyond this I won't comment any more on the Mimics stuff.
As to the video it was my understanding that the iphones out of the box will only display the video externally if you are displaying a video. The screen its self will not display. Or it was the other way around I don't recall. I don't have an iOS device but there was discussion that the HDMI output isn't active on an iOS device all of the time like they are on an android.
