New to carputers. Suggest a monitor?
I am no stranger to configuring and tweaking computers, but I have never attempted to put a computer in my car before. I decided to go the cheap route and bought a Raspberry Pi to use as a media center and game emulation suite (for the passengers, of course). My biggest concern is that the Raspberry only has 2 video outputs; single-cable composite video and HDMI.
So here is what I am ideally looking for:
- My car is nothing special. It's a '99 Dodge Neon with only a single-DIN slot that contains a simple radio. For this reason, I am looking for an in-dash motorized monitor so it won't take up much space.
- If I have no other choice, I will be okay using composite video, but I would really love a screen with HDMI input.
- Touchscreen is not necessary, though I realize that almost all motorized screens are touchscreen.
- I am looking to spend up to $150, but I am willing to go as high as $250 if I can find a really good option.
I've found a few models that look pretty good, but none of them seem quite right.
Looks like there are no HDMI motorized displays. This puzzles me.
So what do you think? Do you know of a display that would fit my needs?
