    Display Controller Board Changes Resolution

I bought a tontec 1280x800 screen off Amazon that came with the usual PCB800099 V1.6 controller. At first it worked great and it would display any resolution I needed. Now for some reason its stuck at 1280x1024 and I can't get it to change. If I change the resolution on my PC it will say that the 1280x1024 is the recommended resolution and the screen doesn't fit. Any ideas on how to fix this or is the board just done for?

We have that same board for testing/development. Have you asked the seller? Done a full power off/removal for an hour or so? Any options in the on screen menu?

I unplugged the board and let it sit for 30 seconds and plugged it back up. I might try to unplug it and leave it off for a while like you suggested. None of the on screen menus changes anything. It just shows the resolution being 1280x1024 at the bottom. I didn't contact the seller yet. I was just wondering if their was some was to reset the board.

Thanks for the link. I did do the reset option on the third screen of the menu. Nothing really changed.

I also forgot to mention it will not remember which input I'm on. If I'm using HDMI and turn it off, it will just revert back to VGA and I have to manually switch it back. Scaling not longer works either. I think I might just pickup another board. I found one on Ebay for 26.99

That does sound messed up. Yes, maybe another one will be cheaper/easier at this point. Someone on the web suggests adding a stick on heat sink to the main chip as it gets quite hot as a precaution. Maybe for the next board after testing? Good luck and keep us informed.

Well I received my new board and the problems I was originally are now fixed but the colors for the screen are messed up. It's like the red, green, and blue wires are mixed up. When I ordered the new board the eBay seller asked what screen I was using so that he could load up the correct firmware. Any ideas?

The seller loaded the wrong firmware? Send it back? Keep requesting another one until they get it right?

Well my PCB800099 board has started to fail. It is locked at one resolution and attempts to display other resolutions results in a mostly black screen with some grey shading. Gotta contact my AliExpress seller later this morning. Carp. It was all assembled and working so well.
