    Contemplating 14" LCD

    Ok so what are the downfalls of using an 14LCD in my carputer install?
    keep in mind touchscreen is not a priority
    so far:

    -Requires Inverter
    -Too big for certain applications
    -Larger current draw

    anything else?

    remove requires inverter, most probably can be run off 12v

    larger current draw ... who cares, it's still just a few watts

    ok, so then, no inverter required, which could also intoduce noise into the system, um I have found a 15" LCD for $200 anyway of knowing whether it is possible to mod it to take 12V, also as far as brightness is there a relation in cd/m : nits the one I spoke of up above is 250 cd/m

    also is there any sort of device used to maintain a steady 12V with no fluctuations? Or at least some sort of surge protector to protect the carputer?

    Thanks I probably should search but where can I buy this at? Oh yea anybody know exactly how much modding will be required in order to make the LCD 12v compatible? Oh yea and is 150W the only one they carrry, I may be mistaking but is 150W enough for a 15"LCD and a full size computer?

    15" LCD

    I'm also planning on using a desktop LCD with my carpc project too. I'm going the inverter route though, I can get a 600 W inverter (1500 W surge) for fairly cheap and it'll be nice to have AC power for other stuff too..

    Of course the truck I'm driving isn't mine so I have to make this a non-permanent install so I'm going to design something that I can take home at night and use there. The truck also has no working radio so I have to find a way to get descent sound...

    for control of the system I'm going to use my ATI remote wonder and my logitech wireless keyboard.

    I thought I was the only one crazy enough to want to use a large LCD...

    1 nit == 1 cd/m^2

    Someone probably got sick of typing cd/m^2, and just created the term nits.
