Sorry, do not have digital camera yet, no plans either. However, from what i have seen about Xenarc, the picture quality is same. Fonts are well readable and sharp in size of 9 pts.
Well, there is one bad thing about it, I have not managed getting it synced to 848x480 on VIA Epia M board (S3 CLE266 graphics down), but it synced well to this resolution on my desktop nVidia graphics using PowerStrip. I have also tested WinXP Embedded drivers that offer 848x480 by default with no luck, but everyone knows S3 drivers are crappy.
This makes me think Xenarc might be more tolerable to wider range of H/V frequencies.
However, 800x600 works fine in 60,75 and 85 Hz of std. refresh rates. This resolution is fine for me while I can use taller fonts (so they do not look weir stretched) and DVD/DIVX movies can be stretched to proper 16:9 format using codec settings.

Ok thanks, cause I am interested in the unit.

I really wonder if I have to go for the ~$200 price tag for my purpose or if i can get away with a cheaper composite LCD.

See, i'm actually gonna use mine for an HTPC project I'm working on, and basically only ever need it to display two things, a "virtual lcd" that I'm still a long way from finishing that will show info from zoomplayer, and a realtime spectrum analyzer.

Check out what I mean here
    http://uqconnect.net/~zzswohlt/viz.jpg

And don't laugh too hard at the "Virtual LCD" program, it's just getting started, and I'm having no luck interfacing with stinkin' Zoom Player's stinkin' LCD API.

Anyway, this will be mounted on the front of an atx desktop case, and will only be viewed inside, so I dunno if the nit rating is that important.

The nice thing about VGA lcd's though is I would just need to hook it up to my radeon 9000 agp card, and run a multimonitor setup with the s-video acting as the primary monitor on my tv, and the lcd acting as a secondary monitor.

Otherwise, i'd have to see if i could pick up a cheap pci card with tv out and run a cheaper composite lcd through that (~$130-$150) for the whole thing. But then I worry about having two cards running two TV displays, and no vga connection whatsoever...i dunno if that's even possible. Might have to get a scan converter, and then those are expensive too.

Well, let me know your thoughts guys...(besides "how the heck did this idiot get so off topic!")

Where did you buy this screen for $190? What is the website/phone number/contact point. I think that everyone would like to know this if we can get a VGA screen at this price. Please let us in on it.

For what you are describing you could probably get away with a composite LCD and nit won't matter much. I used to have a 5" lcd in my computer case running MBM and a few other monitoring programs and for stuff like that it works well, especially if you can bump the font size up a bit (which you probably have done unless you have a HDTV). Depending on the card it possible and even easy to run with no vga displays, however with some you'll have to do the resistor hack.

Hey, thanks Kami, I appreciate the info! I think economically it makes sense not to go for the vga at this time, but rather just use a composite lcd.

You're from Lancaster, huh? My girlfriend is too, she went to Manheim Township high school. Small world.

What do you mean you USED to have a 5" lcd in your case....what happened to it? Also...how did you power it? Simple 12v connection to molex?

I also tried to contact George Chen from www.made-in-china.com website, no response yet. I am trying to contact www.lilliput.cn directly *again* but no response. If anyone has actually contacted them and been able to purchase a monitor please let the rest of us know how you did it. It would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

It was in the front of my case, took it out cause it was taking up 3 out of 6 5inch bays and plus I moved my computer under my desk so I couldn't see as often anymore. I'm planning to use it in my carpc but I may put it into my server to monitor downloads.

For power I just used a molex, my desktop is running 550W Enermax so I figured I had enough power.

I'm really only in Lancaster until I finish school (one more year!) and after that who knows where I'll end up. I was born in Japan, grew up in Utah, and went to high school in Boston before this so I think it's time to move South or something
