jeremy, did you have to extend the vacuum lines on your a/c controls when you moved them down?

I am not sure, I had the shop that installed my alarm move them down into the hole in the console I cut for the 1st LCD. I thought they would have too extend them (That is why I asked them to do it), but it did not look like they had too.

Be careful. I was just told by Dave at dscustoms that attaching your screen to your dash will void your warranty. I thought the only thing that would do that is opening the case. It seems that these things are so fragile that probably just looking at it crosseyed will void your warranty.

    Good luck.

I have a 97 Formula Firebird, and being that it's a GM, I know it's going to cost every penny I have whether there's a warranty or not. I bought a warranty for my car and then returned it and got a refund because I don't see the fun in leaving a car stock. I'm replacing my engine and everything around it, dash, sound system, suspension, headlights, cluster, A/C, and removing my backseats to add room for my NOS. By the time I'm done, the only thing left for the warranty company to replace is the window motors (which doesn't cost more than 200 bucks anyway!)

Have fun with your car. Unless you like the stock apparence of your vehicle (that means no touchscreen) then there's no use for a warranty.

I guess I am confused on how mounting your LCD in the dash is any differant that tapeing it to the top of the dash. If you do not open the case or damage the case installing it, it should not matter. Hopefully I never have to find out about the warenty.

I think it's because the screen is now permanently attached to the dash and you can't send it back to Dave for warranty work. I glued the front of the screen bezel to the back of my console piece so that the display was visible through the 2DIN opening. Now my touch screen has stopped working and Dave wants me to send the unit back to him to fix, so I can't do that without taking apart the dash and sending him the whole thing. I guess he doesn't trust me to open the case, remove the touch controller and send that back for replacement.

I've already done the troubleshooting; i.e. hooked it up to different computers, cables, operating systems, drivers, checked connections, etc. I know it's the controller that's the problem because it acts the same no matter what the configuration is. I'm sure he would find that same thing out.

But he says that the warranty is now no good. Well, it's time to pop open the case, remove the piece of crap touch controller and go buy a replacement from the other guys.

Does anyone know if the USB touch controller will hook up to the DSCustoms 7 in VGA to replace the serial controller?
