This may work, but it might also prevent any of the other buttons from working. You should test that first before doing anything.

When the power button is held in, the other buttons do not work. Thats the main reason I didn't do this, that and the lilliput needs turning off/on sometimes when it changes mode!

Car changed for TVR Griffith 500, so computer de-installed. Using a Dension 100ix w/60Gb HD unit in the interim.

I don't believe that is does power itself off.
The lilliput has a red LED when its in standby. When mine doen't recieve a signal, it too displays that no video message. However the led remains green i.e its still on using full power.

When I remove the power to it (switched via ignition), then next time its used it will revert back to Red led, i.e in standby and therefore needs the power button to be pressed to switch it back on.

ok ... i knew that would come up, so i went ahead and did some readings on my lilliput ... here's what i came up with:

    Amount of Current Draw:
Power off (Red LED): 37.2 mA
Power on (Green LED) / no signal: 260mA
Power on (Green LED) / pc running: 550mA
Power on (Green LED) / MediaCar running: 560mA

recognize i have a cheap Metex meter ... it's not the best ... so these numbers may be a little off.

If you are using an ITPS you can use the same switched output that turns on your PC to turn on the Lilliput with a switch closure by adding a small reed relay.

my thoughts exactally. even if my meter is a little of ... 260 is quite a bit.

any other lilliput owners have a nice fluke or something that may be more accurate?

My first DennisK screen Digital COntroller board allowed you to short the button to make it turn on with power.

I added a toggle switch that shorted it. If you add a switch that can short the power button, then when you need to change modes or change a setting just hit the switch.
