Step one with any new toy is always to take it apart and look inside. There's always solder joints to touch up, or something to lube, relocate, or secure.

But that wont solve the problem of having to press the power switch each time you start your PC, which was the original post.

I have a relay that turns my screen on, but I still have to press the screen ON switch every time = hassle.

At ~260ma, I am reluctant to wire ON all the time...dead battery in a coulple of days...

My screen gets 12 volts power when the Computer turns on.

    It's from my 250 Watt Keypower supply/ Clean 12 volts...regulated.

How long would a car battery last with ~260ma constantly being used?

Because I do have it 'always on'... And I'm going on vacation this friday, want to know if I have to change it before I go (since the car wont be moving for a week after I get there)...

Depends how many AMPS the battery is.

Using a 700mAh Lipo battery in my RC Planes I get about 15 mins of flight at 3 amps.

260mA is very little. The car itself uses some ma to have the ECU programmed correctly to the octane gas it uses. But then again, why have it powered off COnstant power and not acc-on power? (ignition on) If I hooked my screens up to my 12 volts ciggy lighter, then everytime key is out of car, no power to screen, and when key is on, then power to screen.

Well I got it constant on as I didnt know about the powerbutton-short... And unless its needed, I wont take apart my dashboard again before my vacation... As its not the easiest job (especially not with the LCD installed now)...

My ITPS powers up my screen, and the relay closure turns it on. This is all conceptual and now you have me confused. Oh well, I'll see how it works when I get it done and back together.

About a week or two, BMW's use around that much stock, and die within a month, almost all the time. My stealth uses around 40ma, and can go a month or more w/o problems.

I'm interested in something that can blip it on when the PC is powered up as well.

This is when a solar panel can come in handy. Have your garage turn on flourescents every now and then. Have a small solar panel installed nicely.

Hmm... a 2+w one would do the trick! I have a friend that works for audi, they ship the cars with them attached... maybe he can... snag one for me? Good idea!
