If I remember right, TDK made a backlight inverter and also a company called Xercon (i think) that gave the lamps power. Here is some info from myold computer dug up back when I used them :

Was finding some LQ10s from earthcomputers.com. My info is old and Im sure there are probably cheaper VGA converters out there, but just to give you an idea. Hope this might help you.
