    Mounting a Lilliput

How are people mounting their screens? Do you use the stand and put it on top of the dash, hang it from the dash?

Also has anyone done their own roof mounting, seems a little scary to me, I have visions of screws sticking out of the roof of my car..!

    Chris.

I was wondering the same! My screen should arrive within a week. Mounting it on the dash seems a good idea in my car - but I'm worried about the attraction a clearly visible screen has on criminals..!

A quick dismount option which enables me to put it in my (locked) dashboard in 5 secs would be great... but how? There will always be cables that have to be connected/disconnected...

at the moment I have a pioneer AVD W6010 which is stuck on top of the dash. It is the quick relewase version and is just a TV screen.

I have just got a lilliput VGA Touch, this is currently set up indoors as a second screen on my main PC while I test it out. I am planning on putting it into the dash rather than on top, although i may put it on top for a while, but I am concearned about theft, and it won't be so quick release as the pioneer.

The thing is I have to find places to relocate my head unit and Climate control before I can install in the dash.

I haven't got mine yet and I'll be having the same problem... how ever if you want to check out the gallery on my site ( see below ) may be that will give you some ideas.

I would like to find out what standard the mount is then go from there, I think its the same as a flash gun mount on a camera ?

    Thanks

    Terran

    Hi russ,

I purchased one of these screens from cartft.com last week and had the same great service you got (and yes i was very impressed with the screen also!!)

Mount - did not like the one that came in the box as it was not a quick release one, went down to my local car audio shop and picked up a quick release bracket from a VDO navigation system?? fits perfectly mounted on a DIN blanking plate (moved HU down) blanking plates 5ish bracket 20ish (ish coz my mate works there and got them for free!!) Screen is in the perfect position in my car and is still adjustable if i need to tilt as there is a thumbnut on the side.

    Hi all,

I have found a supplier for you as mine can't supply this cheap!!

    http://search.lycos.co.uk/searchFram...6etemp%3Derror

You will just need to use the one on the left, throw the other one away.

Let me know how you all get on...

    Chris.

Stand is a no-no to me, carputer should be a total integration between car and a computer, for me that's the whole idea. Look at the left, that's my setup. It's a hacked PSOne screen, I wrapped the circuit using a static bag, (the one you got when buying computer components) with two silica gel placed inside to protect it from humidity. All this is hidden so it doesn't matter if it's ugly, the most important is the screen.

screws wont stick outside the roof as your car as it would have a space of about an inch or two from inside. It only depends on how strong the inside roof of your car is, mine isn't that strong so I didn't mind hanging something in there in case it falls during a bumpy ride.
