I dunno its just an idea.
MTV just showed diary of Ludacris and he had a steering wheel mounted TV in a STS cadillac.
    I'm just saying it's possible.
if you are removing safety devices to show off you are a moron and subsequently deserve to die. Even if you are not replacing safety features because you are too cheap, come on. Can you not hear the next darwin awards mentioning your name? Possible yes, stupid yes. I'm all for jazzing up the ride with tech, but these people are the reason the gov't has to make laws regarding this ****, because people are actually watching dvds while they are driving. I'm going to stop here before I end up in a real rant. For a show car, yea I can buy it. Don't do this stuff in your street car, it puts a bad mark on the rest of us, when you end up in an accident.

Anyway you look at it, screens in the steering wheel (and certain other areas) are retarded unless the only thing that drives your car is the tow truck from your garage to the car show.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should... And it's illegal as hell too.

First off let me say I agree with you on this. But I was curious as to how the law is worded that makes putting a screen in your steering wheel. I know you can't watch motion films from the drivers line of sight, but is there actually a law that says you can't have a screen in the windshield??

    Just curiosity. Thanks.

Some of the stuff I see at car shows cracks me up. They do weird impractical things to try to be different, that screen in the steering wheel is a good example. I always wanted to build and extreme show car as a joke, I'd use go-kart wheels that stick out of the wheelwells about a foot or so and i'd find a way to chrome plate the tires. The car would have no engine because lots of show cars never use it anyway. Some show cars don't even have parts inside the engines. Then I would have every game console ever made installed from the original pong to the x-box. The outside of the car would be covered with speakers. For that low thumpin bass I'd get a piece of 24 inch dia plastic sewer pipe about 6 feet long, and rig up something that would beat it with a sledge hammer in time to the music, either that, or I would convert a trampoline into a giant speaker and I'd put all kinds of junk in it so it would all bounce around.

I'd win first place for sure.

    Umm....OK?

My vehicle is a 1985, never came stock with airbags. If I didn't have that there, there is a hard piece of plastic for the horn on the original ugly outdated '85 wheel.

No I will not watch it while driving.

    Yes I wear my seatbelt.

No I'm not some punk, retarded driver endangering others, I respect safety, and the law.

Sorry for posting the picture of my wheel, I didn't know it would get some peoples panties in a knot.

besides safety concerns, blah blah blah
I love the idea of a steering wheel screen. You'd probably need to put another vga touch somewhere for the passanger. If you have an older car then it would be very easy to take off the steering wheel face and bondo on a new screen.

oh ease up, i was just having a little fun. Anyway, how are you going to get wires to the thing? When you turn the steering wheel it will rip them out. How did you know I'm wearing panties?

a screen in the steerwheel is very simple iv done about 15 of them all sizes from 4" to an 8" most cars had airbags that had to be taken out the screens all had a video in ( vid signal+ and vid signal- and a +12v and -12v) most steer colums had at least 2-3 wires in them find them under the dash and ohm them out to make sure all the wires are correct hook it up and make a trim panel all said every tv took about 4 hours to complete

Installing shouldn't be a problem because what installer would put the cables so tight that a single turn would snap them. I mean airbags have wires don't they?
    Mine needs to be updated.
