Will attemp to go from VGA to RGB

    Hi everyone,
first post but longtime carputer fanatic.
I have been looking for a nice VGA screen but I can't find anything as nice as my Pioneer indash motorized display which has RGB input.
What I would like to do is similar to the playstation lcd (with RGB) mod which allows VGA input to the lcd. I will be going through my audio/video master unit which has an RGB input that is used for a navigation system, Then the unit outputs RGB to the display.

After searching through the web I finally found the the pinout info (pic below)for the cable which connects from the audio/video unit to the navigation sytem, this will be the cable that I will modify.
Now before I fry any of the hardware I would love any input, information, ideas, schematics, etc. on how to make this work IF it's possible.
    thank you all.

I cant see why not since all the cables needed to have a VGA are there. But I dont think your screen follow the VGA resolutions.

You video card may not even support the native resolution of your screen...Ill say the display will still look blurry.

    Try it if you want

    Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks for posting this, I was wondering what the pin-outs were. I'm going to do the same thing, I just installed my Pioneer head-unit for the same reasons. I also would like to hear your experiences on modding the nav cable and connecting to a car-puter, e.g., how does it look on that display? Please post away as soon as you have some results. I'm looking at getting an Alpine unit instead if the Pioneer doesn't work out. The Alpine doesn't have an existing touch-screen to confuse if you want to add one to the head-unit whereas the Pioneer does.

    Thanks.

    Ahhh Another Santa Cruzian

Do you live in Santa Cruz CA? I live in Soquel. What a small world.

I would say stick with the VGA if you are going to be using it for viewing text. If all you are going to be doing is playing games and watching videos then you may as well get the RGB screen. What you are doing may be possible.

I still say that you should stick with VGA, It is worth the extra money just think... The screen is what you are always going to be looking at...better to have it VGA

    Just my two cents

    Cheers
