    Regulator for Lilliput?

I just got my project finished, but theres a slight problem. I've got my Lilliput wired directly up to the cigarette lighter leads via the cigarette lighter adapter that comes with it (I just hacked off the lighter plug, and hard wired it). But the power source causes interferance int he display (like scan lines moving down the screen). I know it's the power because I can hook up the 120V adaptor and it works crystal clear.

Does anyone know of a regulator I can put inline to fix this? The cigarette adapter that comes with the screen has a gray regulator inline, but it does not seem to work. Thanks

Hmm...just now I ran the computer off of an extension cord I ran from the house, and the screen is crystal clear. So it must be inverter noise...but why would running the screen off of the 120V adaptor fix the noise if it's inverter interferance?

I know inverters don't put out true sine-waves. Maybe that is the problem. I was't sure if you ment it gave noise from 12v or 120v off of the inverter.

Try grounding your computer case to the Chassis. The LCD and Computer case need the same ground.

um ... if you're using the cig lighter adapter cable, there is no inverter. The lilliput is a DC device ... your car gives off DC electricity ... nothing needs inverting

However the AC adapter you speak of converts AC -> DC.

Anyway, you're probably getting the interferance from either a bad ground (noted by Joker) or dirty power. In which case capacitors will help you more than a regulator.

Just to verify, you are still using that grey plastic bubble deal that was on the cig lighter adapter to begin with right? That is actually a regulation circuit. So adding another regulator won't do you any good.

Tie the positive end to the cig lighter and take the ground to a chasis ground. That may help
