i wouldnt mind at all paying that much, hell ive payed that much allready on lcd screens. But it has to be of good quality, all around and have a life span on par with just about every other lcd monitor ie, not a few weeks/months.
Yamato... I think if you are looking to come up with a unique market niche, it is exactly that. A high quality affordable sunlight viewable monitor. The prices for current enhanced brightness screens are comical. I would have no problem paying ~$500-600 for a _bright_ well made screen.

Please let me know again (if we ar looking at a 8.4 4:3 800x600 screen), how would you be looking to get it (bare screen, finished stand-alone, roof mount, (I don't think in-dash is feasable at that size))?
thanks,
Mike
it's feasable if it's portrait
I'd be looking for bare or roof mount in that size.
car computer rev 5: 8" lilliput and usual suspects
personally i dont need anything that big. 7in is fine for me.
in dash or not is fine too. something as bright or brighter than my lillyput.
no refurbs. no bare screens. everything that it claims it can do, it must do without any fuss. dvi would be great. dont really care about av in, just vga.
will post more latter, im drinking now
cant continue, too much thinking.
This probably isn't mainstream, but this is what I am looking for:Originally Posted by Yamato
768x1280 or 1024x1600 portrait (tall and skinny, but good horizontal viewing angle)
12 inches tall, give or take.
Direct Daylight Viewable
2 DVI interfaces
USB touch-screen using an open/documented protocol
I'm looking for something I can mount right up the middle of the front console, where most cars have radio/ac-controls/vents/etc.
I'm with jerry...No offense, but all i see in this forum is posts of owners of Xenarcs and Lilliputs....I'd love a 12.1 LCD.....!
This is quite a specialized request!Originally Posted by hpcjerry
the dual DVI interface would be hard to find, and very expensive.
Also, to answer a previous request, component video in is available, but these controller cards are designed for large TV's, and are therefor capable of some incredible resolutions, and thereby also much more expensive!
Keep the suggestions comming, they are very much appreciated!

How important is video input???
Are most people using the compter DVD drive to watch movies or a separate DVD player?
Do you need to hook a PS2 or XBox up as well.
I could save alot of money going with a VGA/touchscreen combo controller, but at the sacrifice of analog video input.
