On video input, I have no interest in any connection other than to the computer. I'm considering putting a number of cameras on the car and running them all into the computer and then using software to handle how the camera output is displayed. So, I say leave as much of the brains in the computer to make the display cheaper.

PS, I've noticed some people playing fast and loose when they specify horizontal and vertical pixel counts. I just wanted to make it clear that when I said I was looking for 768x1280 or 1600x1024 I am really talking about the shorter dimension being the horizontal - as in a widescreen 16x9 display rotated 90 degrees (except, since it is LCD so just rotating a display usually "works" but isn't optimal, I'd like to see a display designed for that orientation as the default).
Most of your video cards today do have a rotation option. (likely not the Mini-ITX on-board stuff though.

I have a cheap Nvidia card that will rotate the screen to any of the four orientations.

Yeah, I know that, that's why I said in both messages that rotation was not optimal. I have a rotated LCD on my desk and the horizontal viewing angle is much reduced when rotated - most LCDs have a wide horizontal viewing angle and a much narrower vertical viewing angle. Rotate 90 degrees and now the horizontal viewing angle is the restricted one.

I am unaware of any screen where the RGB stripes are orientated in the other direction; however, moving the placement of the CCFL's might be sufficient to give you the viewing angles that you are looking for. I'lll have to give that a try sometime.
