Can the backlight of a desktop monitor be easily replaced?

I assume that you are speaking of a flat panel.

the answer is yes and no.

If it is just the CCFL "bulb" then yes, you can pick up a comparable replacement at some electronics parts stores.

If your electronics, most likely the inverter board, are out, then it will be a little bit more work to find the correct replacement.

Either way, you will need to be savy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron!

thx for the quick reply. Yes, its a LCD, the reason I ask is, i can get a really good price on one, except for the screen is very dark. I assumed it was the backlight that was out. Sound like thats what the problem is to you?

    Thx for the help
