    How bright is bright?

Are you guys having any trouble seeing your screen in the daylight? What would be your minimum nit brightness recommendation for sunlight viewing?

250nits. 300 is better. 400 is whoa... anything above that might as well put a floodlight behind the screen. but your typical home lcd is 140-180 nits, just to give you an idea.

350 NITS measured through the touchscreen / whatever else. Lots of stats are misleading, giving the NITS from at the backlight

The minimum brightness is going to depend on a few factors. Simply they are who, what, and where.

Who is viewing it? What is acceptable to one person, may not be for the next.

What are you viewing on it? Song lists on a dim monitor aren't quite as annoying as a DVD on a dim monitor.

Where is it going? Since our monitors are in cars, they usually have some protection from direct sunlight. And some people take additional steps to shade them.

Take a look at this FAQ.

    RV,

My Lilliput is much dimmer when it gets cold (sitting in the garage overnight). Also, the glare from the touchscreen makes the screen almost unuseable in some situations (see pictures HERE . My point is, nits are just one element of useability.
