LCD Laptop Screen Help??

Hey everyone new to the forums, I hope someone can help me out. I ordered a 12.25" Laptop LCD new in the package off ebay, for 20 bucks. I thought it was a steal. Only I wanted to use it in a SUV I'm getting very soon. I wanted to hook it up for sound, and video, but the more I here people tell me things, the more i turn away from the idea. Some things I heard was I would need a controller card, also laptop screens are very hard to see on angles? Did I just waste my time getting this thing or what? I am very bummed out thinking I was getting a great deal, as that big of a screen would be crazy in a SUV. I hope someone can help out me, and give me specifics on how to work this LCD as a tv. I can get like audio/video off an old tv I don't use anymore if this is possible to use, and I thought the angel on a Laptop was only bad when reading text. If anyone can zoom me in the right area of what to think, what I would need, or I should just put it on ebay and hopefully get my money back? I just need some help/advise/suggestions. Mike, ya really gotta spend about a week strait readin old threads before you start buyin things. you'll see better ways of doing things, and and see things that wont work. laptop LCD's require a controller card. these start at $150 on ebay and go up, IF you can find them at all there, and IF it is compatible with your pannel. also, i hope your proficient with soldering very small connectors in place, cause you will need to do that as well.

you want to hook a tv signal up to the lcd? well, provided you can get everything hooked up to get the lcd working with your computer, you can get a tv-tuner card for your computer and do things that way. theres a very slim chance that the LCD controller will have composite input as well.

one of the main problems with laptop LCD's is that they are simply not bright enough to see in direct or partially indirect sunlight. if any of the monitors have a brightness rating listed, your looking for something at least 250 nits, 300-400 is better.

long and short of it is, i would recomend relisting that little beauty on ebay and then hangin around the forums for a few weeks. you'll get the hang of things, and figure out what will really do what you want. and sorry, but this little project is gonna cost you ALOT more than $20....

Hey thanks alot for the reply. I will take your word for it and resell this screen on E-bay. For future referance, since I am young and lost of money. Is there anything else I can get roughly the same size as this LCD screen I'm getting, that will work that might have a controller card, or that won't require one or whatever. I just want to get a nice size LCD, like the one you are selling, with good picture and all. I just need some suggestions on what I should be looking for that will be something good to use as a TV. Thanks again!

what type of LCD screen is it? brand, part number, etc?

Well that's nice...just typed a long reply and I guess I timed-out..anyhow basically what I typed to myself was the idea of using a desktop lcd monitor with a few modifications to fit and be powered off the puter's psu I'm not gonna type it all again. I have a 15 inch elo touchscreen I plan on installing in my truck...it was cheaper than a 7 inch display everyone else has...
