yes it was a pita, however it was easier than trying to solder directly to the lilliput board where the switches connect, the freekin pins are so close together. i just didn't have the right tip for the soldering gun

One question though, can you give a little more detail on that making the lilliput permanent on thing? Can you pretty back remove that thin PCB and just wire pins 5 and 8 together? I dont plan to use the IR and the other buttons.

How do you wire the ribbon as you described? Or did you connect the ribbon to the connector, but you removed the connector from that tin PCB and wired the pins on the connector?

i didn't do the permanent on thing, but you just jump the pins, see the wrx site.

the ribbon from the lilliput to the control panel...i seperated each wire individually and solder that to another length i wire that i made which in turn was solder directly to the switches on the tm housing.

How do you separate the wires spyhunter? Its a bit risky no? How do I tell where I can cut and where I cant? I been to the WRX site but firstly the connector is laying on the side, while mine is standing up. Well that's no big deal but is there a way to check if pin 1 on the guide is the same side as mine? I guess that's when I need to take measurements with the multimeter eh?

From the WRX site, I should cut on the white or the blue of the ribbon? And to short them out, gotta use a solder? isnt that a permanent solution? =) btw, those wires easy to solder? Because most wires i've come cross wont stick on the solder and I dont know why.

If anyone wants to part with there lilliput front bezel or even the back would help me, please pm me, i am thinking of doing a install in my dash and need an experiment bezel.

Masch i took a small knife and carefull seperated the individual wires from the ribbon. the blue part i just removed, its like a sticker. the wires themselves carry such a small current that risk of frying the whole thing is nil. use a multimeter to double check the connections and reference the stuff from the pictures. I had to rewire mine after i got it back together after i realized that i references from the wrong side.

from there i just directly solder the (my wires) to the ribbon wires. its the pain in the *** getting a decent joint. thats part of the reason for the disclaimer and comments in the original post.
