I'm having problems with my ribbon for the front panel buttons. I seperated the wires and tried soldering but I don't think they were all connected properly because I connected everything else, plugged in the power and pushed the power button and got nothing. Because a lot of the plastic got melted (also don't have the right soldering iron tip) I decided to cut off that end of the ribbon and 'restrip' it without even thinking. I assumed I could just gently cut on one side of the ribbon and peel it back exposing the wires but um... that's not working too well.
Any suggestions?
I'm sure I can play around with my knife a bit and scrape off the plastic but I'm just wondering if there's an easier way.
I soldered a small length of wire (~1/2" long) of 30 AWG wire to the connector where it solders to the PCB. Not an easy thing to do unless you have a pencil point soldering iron and small diameter solder.Originally Posted by masch

spyhunter,
How did you power up the lilliput? Did you cut the power connector along with the USB connector?

I understand you took out the usb like connector, but then, how did you use the supplied power adapter off that? Did you cut off the connector from the supplied power adapter too? Or did you solder them together?

hmmm ok....the supplied cables that came with the lilliput answers all questions. the screen can be powered off of the jack right on the screen or though the usb like cable which has power, video and left/right audio jacks on it. i used the cig adapter, cut off the end and put a molex connector on it to power it off the psu. that answer the question?

Okay, I think I know what you mean, its just that I didnt understand your original post in this much detail.
It seems to me that you took out the Lilliput's USB-like connector off the board, and resoldered a USB extension cord with the 4 wires to where the Lilliput USB-like connector was.
So now you have an extended USB-like connection to the board, I dont know how long but does it extend all the way towards the end of the case where the spring was? Or just a short distance?
Assuming this is the case, you have 4 inputs now to the board,
"
Pin 1 red
Pin 2 White
Pin 3 Green
Pin 4 Black
Ground to Ground
"
or 5, including ground. Which of these pins do you connect to the +12V of your molex connector? Or do you straight away plug em in the USB port of your mobo (I understand USB connections has 12V out too right) and that's where you get the power to power the lilliput?
