    Angry Dead Lillyput TouchScreen?? Help!!!

Has the touch screen died on my Lilliput …. Please help!
I have done extensive reading of the forum tonight and tried everything suggested in the various threads to try and fix/ pin down the prob. I will outline all the symptoms so hopefully between all you clever chaps we can decide what has gone wrong! Had my screen for a couple of months now and had no problems until now, got it from ebay hong kong guy.
Was having good day, not at work (sickie) and finally got round to setting up my Dlink radio with confused’s radio ext app for media car (which works great btw). The lillput screen was running off the mains adapter, for several hours. Hadnt ran it for that long on adapter before, usually off car battery as only just found my 2 to 3 pin adapter. Have noticed it runs hotter when running from mains, anyone else agree with this? UK mains, the lillyput transformer is rated up to 240v so should be ok???
First prob was right hand side of screen inaccuracy got much worse than normal, so tried fixing (botching) by doing a 25 point recalibration and cheating a bit down that side. After doing this a few times things started going wrong, the touch screen area got smaller and smaller. By this I mean if in draw test and you ran finger up and down across the whole width of the screen it would draw only in a space a quarter of the width of the screen but all the way from top to bottom in an area left of centre.
I little worried by this (!) I reinstalled drivers and since then have no touch screen at all.
Due to the timing I assumed it was software related, as I was fiddling with calibration at the time. But now I think it was just a horrible nasty coincidence. I have reinstalled with newest drivers on two different PCs. I have done system restore back to when XP was fresh on that pc. I have tried and tried reinstalling in numerous ways but nothing works. It looks like it should be working, like all drivers and everything look like should work. The only prob is touchscreen does nothing when you touch it.

Was the shrinking touchscreen output me witnessing something burning out inside?
    What can I do?
Sending back to HK is unlikey as had already broken case seal, I waited 2 months before I did this, to make sure wasn’t faulty!! Damn it!
How can I test what is wrong? What can I try replacing?...

So what did you end up doing? Have you a working touch screen now? Did it fail after using with the mains adapter?

I know you guys don't want to hear this, but if you end up not getting the touch to work, I'd take the lcd off your hands as long as it's the vga model. I wanna use it for projector and have no use for the touch.

Dosn't DigitalWW sell touchscreen kits? I'm sure that would be a feasable alternative to buying a new screen. Ask Armen.

Yeah he sells the touchscreen as a kit but also as seperates: USB controller and screen. If you found out somehow which one is broken you could save yourself 50 bucks!

I sent armen a message and he said he would repair my screen if I was unable to get it repaired.

Well, I have now heard back from Extreme Audio (ebay people) and they assure me that they will still replace my faulty screen, even though i have opened up the case to 'have a peek' inside. So thumbs up for them. So it is soon off to hong kong. My only fear is that it will takes weeks and weeks to come back!!
I took the screen to a local touchscreen manufacturer and a technition (sp?)kindly looked it over for me. They use the same USB controller board in some of their stuff so he tried a new one and it made no difference, this implies it is the touch mat itself which is broken, not the controller. Just my luck, if it had been to controller i could have had it replaced about 300meters from my house instead its got to go to hong kong!
    Thanks for help.
