I think i have a double din in my 99 mercury cougar. I was not able to fit even just the lilliput LCD. I had to Cut out room and fit the front bezel of the lilliput and epoxy in place and bondo and sand and paint match (more than a 1 weekend project). I have the screen installed and the color matched but i am unhappy with the texture (i did to many coats) so when it really starts to bug me i am going to take it out and clean off all of the paint and repaint it.

For paint color matching i used hobby paints (and some last minute fingernail polish to get the right reflection) I got the color pretty damn close (it is a really hard color / texture to match) I think the 3rd time around i will get it right.

I'd like to see a picture of your so called double din blazer. Otherwise GM and Chrysler cars are 99% 1.5Din. (Chrysler does not include DSM)

    '99 Regal knowledge

    Long-time reader, first-time poster (poser? )

As a long time owner of a '99 Buick Regal LS I can tell you Chairboy that you have a 1.5 din opening there. (My original plan was to install a system in the Regal; sold it and bought a Tacoma.)

It would be difficult to use the existing dash opening to shove a lilliput screen in there flush. You best bet is to follow King_Aero's comment (check out DigitalWW) or fabricate some sort of mount of your own. There's a useless ashtray compartment in front of the shifter. You could always find a way to take advantage of it.

    Good luck!

Does anyone know what the depth of a DIN should be? I have ordered a digitalWW indash fold away LCD for my VW 2000 Jetta. The indash LCD housing specs from digitalWW say that its depth is 6.5", but I measured my DIN and it seems to be 6.0" deep. Just wondering if the indash housing may not fit, and I just have a shallow DIN or something. Anyone?

I have a 1997 Chevy Malibu with a 1.5 DIN. You can look at my install pics to get idea of how I dealt with the 1.5 DIN problem. I did a lot of cutting, relocation and fabrication to get a 7 LCD in there. http://www.natwilson.com/php-cgi/gallery/Malibu_install

Kalito is correct. 1995 & 1996 S10 Blazers are Double Din. Almost all others are din and a half. In know I own a 96. Most people just assume they are din and a half, but they are wrong. The factory stereo that comes out of the 96 blazer is 9 inches wide and 5 inches tall. That twice the size of the others.....

I've decided to leave my head unit in place. I'm mounting the motherboard, power supply, and hard drive in the center console (lots of space, once I opened it up) and am building a fiberglass enclosure to suspend the Lilliput over the head unit (hanging over the lip). I'll post pictures as soon as I finish. Thanks all for help with my original question!
