    Extend lilliput ribbon connector?

Does anyplace on the internet or anywhere sell a ribbon cable that is the same pin number and connection style of the lilliput 7" control panel? Basically I am looking to mount the control panel somewhere else with custom buttons, but i need a longer ribbon cable. anyone know?

no no no. The screen is cusom mounted in my dash. However i didnt like the buttons showing, so the front panel is just sort of dangling/taped to something behind the screen. I would like to be able to use the buttons however the ribbon connector that goes from the button control panel to the lilliput mainboard is very short, i want a longer one of those if possible.

Extending the leads on the IR sensor is much easier if you would rather use a remote then all the buttons....otherwise good luck, its a 13-pin cable by Sumitomo. Mine is torn across 3 wires (unused wires luckly) and I also need to find a replacement soon.
I've done plenty of searching, but its 3am here and a little late to e-mail/call companies about getting a custom cable.
If you find a good source do share though :-P

I doubt you will be easily able to find such a cable. They just aren't really manufactured to be that long.. Check with Digi-Key or Mouser .. they are the two best places that you could get a single cable if it exists.

If it doesn't exist (and it probably doesn't) your best bet might be to wire external buttons of your own to the button contacts on the lilliput board. The buttons all use a common ground, so it wouldn't be any more wires than is in the ribbon cable. You could get some of that multi-conductor wire to keep it all neat and tidy.

    hi

i have a longer ribbon on my display, i mailed a couple of companies that sells/makes this cabels and got a sampel from them .

The funny part is that its not the 13-pin in both ends, one of them is 14-pin (thats what they call quality !!!!)

i have one spare cabel but its 28-pin with 0,5 mm pitch, i misunderstod them when i talk to them. But it fits, its just that on pin takes to wires.

I couldn't be bothered to look for an IDE flat extension cable so i cut the ribbon cable halfway and used normal printer cable to extend the control to a metre roughly. check my link underneath.
    My project is also there

Using remote would be great. Is there a writeup somewhere on how to move the IR sensor or should i just search? Can you power on the screen via the remote? thereby making it not necessary to modify the sceen to power up automaticaly (like Mastero did)
