    Hi Guys,
finally some positive outcome :@ ) The picture is ****ed up to the right and sliding but is there!@! I had to rewire it 3 times before I got some vga picture.. What worked for me was cannibalizing a brand new vga cable so I ruled out any possibility of bad connection.

However, I can't get it work in 640x480i only in 720x576 (maybe because of my PAL lcd?) at the moment which is better off course but I've not found for this resolution and my matrox g200 any fine tuned powerstrip settings yet so I'll be fiddling with it on my own for some time.. What is slightly enoying is that I've to change cables because I'm taking that dcc +5V current from my second pc so I can't start remote control now, but I will go forward with that german "lcd always on" psycho hack and stuff..

Thanks for your help - I wouldn't made it thus far without this forum !@!

I am not sure about the mod on the "always on" stuff but the TTL Sync circuit I build with included PSX Pin10 which is to detect VGA On. Power to the LCD is via the cig lighter and it is always on if the PC is On. If there is NO PC, it will be on for couple minutes then turn off. That is perfectly fine with me. I don't have to do anything to get the screen on (manually)

The timings for the PAL Sony PSone display are on my website (which now has MatrixPC's circuit, many thanks to him):
    http://starfox.ucc.asn.au/carcomp/serio_lcd.htm

The Sony PSOne display switches on if 5V is applied to pin 10 of the LCD. In my mod, i just wired DCC to pin 10, as DCC gives 5V on most modern video cards (provided that the VGA cable that you use has pin 9 as well). If you VGA cable doesn't have pin 9, you'll have to do that German mod to always have the display switched on.. i suggest you wire a switch to pin 10 so you can turn it on and off manually

Starfox> thanks for keeping up good job with updating your tutorial website.
I was so confused from all the info that I almost forget that you posted these fine tuned powerstrip settings for 720x576 on your site :@ )

Gonna take a break from moding for a couple of days my GPA suffered enough heh.. I hope I'll be able to post more definitive results of my build including these German mods by weekend..

btw. there is an english version of these German mods too but
I think the version you have posted is more understandable..

    Kornfused to hell...info overload

    hey fells,

I have been reading like 4 different threads, looked at m-pro, matricPC's and many others, including the german site...nice pics there.

I have one of the 4 inch InterAct lcd's but was not able to confirm working functionality on an actual ps1 (got from a co-worker). It does NOT have multiAV like the Sony branded 5" ones do.

Can someone PLEASE confirm the 4" Interact units cn be made to work?

I snagged a pci Matrox Millenia II and installed latest version of PowerStrip....sized down timings as shown in various threads here. Did csync and interlaced but every time I did, PowerStrip freaked out but could be cause I had 19" flat panel hooked up and said "use current" when adjusting timings.

The interact 4" has TV out, audio out and some labeled AV, DVD and VCD plus power for "game" (7.5V has car charger)) and "TFT Monitor" (12V) if I recall correct and it uses a power transformer.

I can not get an image on the damn thing. I have not wired in the 270 ohm resistor (or as other sites suggest, 3 x 270 ohm resistors) cause I would expect to at least get an image on the screen....

Can someone share with me the shortest, quickest way to get a visable immage simply to confirm my video card will push the dang thing?

I cut up a couple vga cables up (one from a viewsonic ga17 and another from a sun monitor) and am having issue confirming the hsync and vsync cables.

Flame me if you must...I just need a hand and don't want to try in vain for weeks just to discover the 4" Interacts lcd's are the exception to the vga mod.

    Thanks

Oracle:the M II does support everything you need BUT will not get down to the ~13hz pixel clock in fact it does not go below 30 but you can get it to work at the bottom specs w/o power strip. you really need a G2 PCI I thing I got a G5 and it works great save no csync.

I wouldn't proceed any further with the mod until someone can verify that the Interact LCDs actually have VGA inputs.

Thanks for the response starfox and mage! Thought for sure someone was gonna flame me....

If I take a couple of pics of the back of the boards and case, would that help anyone confirm or deny I can do the mod?

It does actually say vga somewhere on the case if I recall....It also lists the specs on the box (I will take some pics of that also).

The screen is super small and I don't think it would be very readable for a carPC, but I may thro into a tower case or something. It's an interesting challenge and I would love to make it work.

Last night when I posted, was sort of frustrated....sleep and time have provided some perspective and I am ready to do some more fighting with this project :-)

    Thank!

This is the outside of the box back...pictures sux cause I am at work and had to use SE T616 camera phone.

I have some more pics but my email server at work is slow....

On the back of the unit....it has the follow i/o ports:

left to right, looking straight on at back of lcd:

TFT Monitor (DC 12V) Game (DC 7.5V) TV Out (flat 12 pin connector) AV/DVD/VCD (looks like 3.5 mm head pone jack???) and lastly is Audio Stereo (smae jack as AV/DVD/VCD).

If it helps...the following review is for the InterAct 4" lcd

    Review of InterAct 4" LCD

    More pics to come

    picture 4 is box.

pic 6 is my "new" vga cable. Red, Blue and grey (I think this would be green in most cases?) are like coax cable but smaller....these would be bnc connector if I had an RGB style cable I guess?

Yellow is sync I believe, white I "think" might be the second sync cable I have to tie in with yellow for c-sync???

Black is ground and brown I am not sure.

I think I am gonna get a couple 15 pind d-subs from radio shack and (don't know what they are called...) some cable nipple attachments....so I can physically see the pin out from the vid card side at least...
