    Cool tactile-feedback LCDs

I read about Alpine having these morphing touchscreens that bump-map buttons on the screen. it's called PulseTouch and can't wait for these to hit the oem's! of course, special software would be needed to map the on-screen buttons. anyone hear of this?

This is very similar to the "force-feedback optical mice" that showed up on the market around 2 years ago. If you get a chance to play with one, you'll find its mostly hype, but has only a little bit of use. Theirs probally gives you the row of buttons on the bottom. Moving from one button to another will jostle as you cross a barrier, but it won't actually feel like a button under your fingers.

It IS a neat idea though...
There's nothing you can't do, so don't be discouraged just because no one else's done it.

ahh yeah, i remember logitech released that blue mouse. and you're right, you only "felt" the button as the cursor moved through the button's outline. maybe another few years and they'll have morphing buttons, haha.

Actually it does feel like a button under your finger. I saw these on TechTV during the last CES show. They said it was so you could keep your eyes on the road and still know where you finger is and what button you are pushing just like a normal headunit. It won the best inovation of the show I think...
