This is a description of what I did beyond that.
First off I did the indash conversion like everyone else, and the coyote auto-on mod.
Then I replaced all of the cables from the LCD through the housing with one ribbon cable, and added a nice little quick connect in the LCD housing for when I have to take it apart.

After all that ribbon cable stuff, I added a rocker switch to make it so the LCD only gets power when it is pulled out of the housing.

The ribbon cable I used was rated high enough I think.
Haven't had any problems with any of the video inputs yet.
