    cutting the Lilliput case

I think I'll be cutting the slightly-curved bottom off of my Lilliput case to make the bottom straight so it can fit in my double-din housing. I'll obviously have to relocate or remove entirely the buttons, but I'd like to keep at least the IR functionality. I'm guessing I'll also have to add a tiny little sliver of MDF at the bottom to pad it out, and then bondo then whole front case??

Awhile ago I some a project where someone had done just that, but cannot find it. Has anyone else done this? If so, how and where did you move the IR sensor to?

I did what you said ... dunno if it was my post you were referring to or not. Search for Toyota 4runner. The easiest thing to do is unsolder the IR sensor and reattach it with a short lenght of wire (and preferable some sort of connector). Then just move the entire button board to the back side of your LCD (I hot glued it there). You can now position the IR sensor where you want. In my case, I just routed it through to a storage cubby that sits beneath my HVAC controls. If I want to use the remote, I have to open the cubby and align the sensor and remote. Since I don't use the remote much (no need really), this isn't a big deal. Eventually, I will permanently mount the sensor somehwere. In my setup, there is easily room on either side of the LCD (where I put the MDF).
