How should I extend the VGA wire (Xenarc LCD)

I'm wrapping up the plans for my Carputer, but after searching, I still don't really understand how people get the VGA from their computer to the LCD, it seems like one of those things that "everybody knows so nobody talks about it ". I was thinking about using one of these cables from here: http://www.cnaweb.com/en-us/dept_37.html probably the "15' SPVGA Male to Male 3 Coax w/Ferrite Cable" for $9.50. I've ordered from this place many times, and the cheaper "HD monitor" cables suck (lines in the monitor etc) but when using the SVGA or SPVGA it looks great (this is all on 17'' CRT monitors tho). What cables do you guys use? One more question - I'm gonna be using the Xenarc 700TSV, does that have the VGA cable built in (so I would need an extension cable vs a regular cable), or is it a port on the lcd? Thanks a lot, Josh

Well, I don't know. I had a laptop screen to extend and I did it manually - just took a printer cable, chopped off the ends and extended it If your LCD has no VGA connectors or has its own cable this is the easiest way out unless there is some sort of factory extension available. If your LCD is just a regular VGA compatible one - buy one of those VGA extension cables

I think you would need a male to female cable, not a male to male as you stated in your post. I need to find myself an extension cable myself. I would also like to know what cable gives the best results. You would connect your LCD cable with the VGA connector to the extension to the PC.

Go to office depot, pick up a box of 10' Belkin KVM cables. On of the cables is a male-female vga.

    Cost: $18-$25

Use a male to female cable otherwise you'll have to by a gender changer to make it work. I don't no which cable works better than others. I just went to my local store and got a 15' VGA extension cable. I have a lilliput though.

I'll probably go with the male to female version of the cable I linked then, hell for $10 if it doesn't work I'll find some other use for it. I'm not sure if 10' is enough, because its gonna be at the very top of my dash (sitting on top), and it would have to run all the way down the dash, down the center console, under the seats, and into the trunk (yea its not very scientific but hell I dont own the car yet), I think 10 feet would be stretching it (literally). 15 should be good though, but if the $10 cable doesn't work out then ill invest in a belkin. Thanks a lot guys!

10 ft should be enough Mine is about 1 meter (3 ft) long and it can reach the back seats easilly. Well, of course it won't hurt to have a longer cable either.

10' is too short for me when it is routed under the back seat and trim moldings. 15' was a little too long. For my Civic 13' would be just about right.
