    Notebook Car-Adapter Noise on LCD

    Hi !

I use my notebook as a carputer.
I use a 12v to 20v converter to power my notebook.
But everytime I plug in that converter, my lilliput screen starts to flicker.
    (slow moving horizontal lines)

I tried grounding both my lilliput and the notebook converter to different places in my car. didn't help.

Also strange is the fact that I can remove the ground of my lilliput and, as long as the VGA-cable is connected, it will keep working. VGA cable is acting as a ground for the lilliput?

When I remove the 12-20v converter (notebook running on battery), the screen is perfectly stable.

Anybody knows a solution to this ??

    thanks in advance

I have the same horizontal lines on my lilliput when I run it with the ac-dc adapter and my notebook with ac-dc adapter.
Haven't test it in my car yet.

I am have the same problem and more here is my post http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...-problems.html

I have purchased a loopback filter for the power running into my car. I am going to put one on my 7000 and one on the power coming into the car. I hope this works. It worked in my circuits class! So I am guessing it will work here. The only problem is that the filter that I got is only rated for 100 W. So we will see. I will let you guys know after I get it installed.

    Hi,

Was any solution found to this problem?
I have the same problem, using a Sony Vaio laptop (19v) and a Lilliput screen all is fine when running on the laptop battery, nice clean screen then when I needed to plug the adaptor into the laptop to power it I get lines all over the screen.
When cruising on the motorway at 3,000rpm the screen is clear so I assumed the adaptor was struggling so bought a Carnetix P1900, just finished wiring that in today and once again I am getting the lines on my screen when the carnetix is powering the laptop.
I also have just noticed that if I put any load on the alternator (turn on heater fans etc) the lines get worse.
I am using my Carnetix to power the laptop and my usb hub and a seperate 12v ingition feed to power my Lilliput.
My car is an ex-police Volvo with a 100amp alternator so it is not even a puny alternator that is struggling.

So basically picture is fine on the screen turn on laptop and run it on battery and all is nice and clear, as soon as the laptop has the external power plugged in the lines are there straight away but go away if I unplug the power and run off the battery.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

    hey guys,

the only solution I found to this problem was to get another dc/dc adapter... this time I got one made exclusively for my hp/compaq laptop, with the right voltage and amperage (18.5v 3.5a), instead of one of those universal type ones...

after that installed, the lines were almost completely gone!

    Hi,

After switching to the Carnetix 1900 from my universal adaptor the lines are slightly lessened but still there, but only when on external power, all is clear on battery.
They aren't bad enough to really worry about but enough to annoy a fussy bugger like me ;-)

    Same problem here.
I am using the P2140 and I get a lot of flickering and lines. is this a voltage issue?
Can I increase the secondary 12V output on the P2140?

I think my touchscreen came with a power filter which I'm not using because it has a cigarette adapter on one side. Maybe I should chop this up and put it between my P2140 and my touchscreen
any ideas? this seems to be commonplace
