You probably have all this stuff checked....but...

    Can you ping the computers?
You have P&F Sharing enabled on both PCs?
You have them on the same Workgroup name?
Make sure are appropriate services are started/enabled.

i have both c drives enabled for sharing,, only the m1000 is showing up(on the m1000), and i dont have norton installed on it yet

i have to be missing one little detail,, im still guessing its related to norton,, but im gonna redo all the settings and see what happens

Autoprotect is antivirus, not firewall. To test if it's NIS, right click the globe icon in your systray and select 'Disable Norton Internet Security'. After that, try the network. If it works, you do one of the following to configure NIS to allow that network traffic:

Open up the integrator, double click the Firewall tab on the left. You'll want to modify the firewall rules. Find the ones that mention Microsoft Networking and uncheck the ones that disable it.

    Or...

you can add the IP address of each machine to the others 'trusted zone' in NIS. Then all traffic is allowed between them.

PaCMaYNE: i can host that vid if you want, pm me.

I take it both pc's are plugged onto a switch/hub or into each other using a X-over lead.
are you ips something like this 192.168.0.XXX and subnet 255.255.255.0?
    Just going through the obvious

    My solutions:
1 you could forget trying the "workgroup" all together. This is what I do at my Clients' office. Go to Start> search >printers, computers...> computer.

Put in the IP address in the Computer Name field.

2 Just for clarification you are not running Norton Internet Security or any other firewall? FYI, your workgroup name is NeTWorK not the default according to the pic you posted.

3 Check the settings of the windows internet connection "firewall" (on the network connection properties field).

4 Was the computer ever connected to another computer?

5 Was the computer ever on a client server network?

    On the net:

1 Is the Computer Browser service started?

To start/stop Master Browser on Win2K/XP, go to Administrative Tools>Services, start/stop the Computer Browser. You setup start automatically, select Administrative tools, Services, and change the Start setting for Computer Browsing to Automatic. You can then reboot the computer or start the service manually by clicking on the Start button.

2 NetBIOS over TCP/IP. To do that, go to the properties of TCP/IP>Advanced>WINS. If you are using a static Internet Protocol (IP) address, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. If you have a DHCP-assigned IP address, click Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server.

3 No Master Browser or too many browsers may cause this issue Change master browser in w2k or XP:
Go to Program files, Admin tools, services then in the right panel right click on computer browser and right click go to properties then from the startup list select Disabled. Or type regedt32, and scroll to this key change value to False
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Browser\Parameters IsDomainMaster=FALSE

    Hope that helps
