    TFT/Laptop Ghetto Install well......

Ok a few weeks ago I asked about mounting a screen to my roof, the only problem was I have a sun roof so I came up with the idea of using a ruler cut to fit, and some suction cups that are attached to said ruler . The LCD is mounted to the ruler with a screw where the dash mount would go. I then stuck it to the sunroof and it's been there for about 2weeks of driving, bumps, railroad tracks etc and its still there. I then decided to make mount and carpet it for an old laptop to do GPS only(it has duct tape but I have an old one I'm fixing, this one will due till I get done repairing the replacement). I drive a 00 explorer. The mount fits between the two seats and if you look under the table I built you'll see the mobile dvd player carpeted also I alsol put carpet on the old laptop and will do so on the replace but much better this laptop is temp.

Using an Earthmate GPS that I painted black and Iguidance,Streets and Trips 2005(which seems to always crash when exiting but like the GUI, Street Atlas 04. I get 7/9 satellites and I get a lock in about 3-5 secs which is good I want to try copilot live but for now Iguidance gets the nod for now.. I have a fm transmitter that sends my dvd audio through my system, going to put a split and run to my laptop for iguidance until I can get the adapter for my HU that allows me to use an input...OK on to the pictures..

Comments and no jokes about the duct tape haha

That's the cleanes duct taped install I've seen. Then again, I always like the ghetto installs. There is just a purity about them.

    Nice work.

Yeah I couldnt sit the laptop on the floor without removing my center console but with the table it brings it up to an even level thats usable plus I can use the touchpad on the laptop to move around the laptop, It also sits nicly so that I can actually see the screen

Get Netstumbler, it is free and it will play a sound evertime it discovers a new acess point. It also gives you usefull information about the access point like signal strenght and encryption on or off.
