Intec PSOne LCD Pin outs....Success!!

OK so we have another LCD that could possibly be used for PSOne mod. I have been searching for any information on schematics or datasheets for unit, well I was finally answered but "aokman" over on "bit-tech.net". He sent me the link for the pages that had been scanned and posted on the web. All the writing is in asian characters, I don't know which exact language. If I had to guess, it would be Japanese only because Sharp is a Japanese company. But not trying to be insulting, just ignorant. Anyway, if anyone recognizes what language it is in and can read it, I would have a few requests. On page "6" of the datasheets, the bottom has the pin outs. The left most column are the 10 pins on the LCD, the next are the 10 pins coming off the next daughter board as inputs to the LCD controller. I would like to know what the descriptions say in the right most column. IF someone could translate it for me and post back on this thread it would really help me out. I plan to mod this with an old CD-Rom and Spring Hinges to make a motorized in-dash LCD. I will document everything, and post back here when i am done. Here is the website.

Have you got the picture of the Intec PSONE screen? Im getting an impression that the LCD panel can take in RGB signals without an additional controller? Everything is built in on the panel?

The official Sony PSONE screen have this rounded mainboard and it make the screen awkward to install in a small space...the mainboard cant realy be separated from the screen.

I have posted these pics before, but here they are again. The first pic is from Japan-TFT.com, and is the generic LCD panel made by Casio. This is what is found inside the Intec PSOne LCD. This LCD is 5.4 inch on the diagonal. Japan-TFT lists this part as a STN, but I have come to find out that its the same electronics to run a TFT. I have word from Intec stating these are TFT displays.

Here is my display with an input controller board that is taped to the back of the LCD panel. I have discovered that all this board does, is separate the Composite Video into Red, Green and Blue. Which our VGA cards can supply directly.

I am working with a guy from Austrailia to get this display running. He is putting the display in his PC tower as a second monitor, I plan to mod a CD-Rom to make a motorized display. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

The intec screen does look like a better one to mod that the other psone screen brand.

I have checked the Joytech X-Box screen, the panel have a built in controller bolted behind the LCD panel...but the quality of the display is not good

Just out of interest how does it control the brigthness/contrast of the screen? By means of UP/DOWN button with OSD or a potentiometer?

Whats the display quality like? the original psone screen is quite good.

I hope I can help you but I cant even find a place to buy one here in UK.

I have yet to hook it up, still quite busy with work. The brightness and contrast were adjustable separatly with a wheeled potentiometer. They exsisted on another daughter board and I plan on just hooking up RGB, C-Sync, +12 volt and Ground. And then work form there. I got my intec display from Toy R Us.You can buy just the LCD at a lot of places on the net. Just look up the Casio part number, CMV54NT04P, some sites say its STN, but the model I have is TFT. There is a similar panel from Sharp that states that it is TFT. I don't think quality will be that bad, but we will soon find out.

Yup...it is very nice indeed. Just the quality we need to see. Now I regret buying the Sony screen one week before I saw this thread

Toys R Us in UK dont sell any PSONE screen anymore, the one I can find are only official sony.

"Argos" sell the sony one, looked everywhere and finaly found a non sony brand in "Index". Ok Ill buy it from "Index" even if it cost slightly more than "Argos", opened the brown box and inside is a bloody sony screen

.. oh well I kept it anyway and start modding.

Have you guys played around with the I2C bus in the sony screen?

That is where I bought mine, and they had a sticker price of the unit was $99, but it was on sale for 50% off. Good luck. I still have to construct the C-Sync circuit and hook everything up. I will then work out the tweaks to get it as good as possible. Work is very crazy lately, so its slow going. Hoping to use the winter, to build up the system.

I saw in a post about the PS one that you had a write up on how you did your LCD Hack. I did a search on the post you started and couldn't come across a write up. If you know what I am talking about, I would be very interested in reading it. Thanks all.

Yes please let us know about the quality, I dont know if you have seen the sony ones but it does look good.

I guess Ill just have to find one on the net who sell just the screen. I hope they sell them cheap.

I dont know if you seen the thread I posted a few days ago about generating the DDC signal. Im still trying to order a sample 24LC21A EEPROM chips from microchip...I cant even register

Im not sure it this DDC generator is worth making, but I do like to get away from using the powerstrip. If possible I dont want to hack the BIOS.

I have found the BIOS hack for the matrox cards, havent tried it though.
