Use the 12V output from your computer supply or any other 12V regulated source you have in your system that can supply ~800mA. For a thorough list of alternatives, use the SEARCH button. This issue has been discussed many many many times.

Yeah, a regulated 12v source is what you need. I get my 12v+ from a Carnetix CNX-P1260 and then fed to the Lilliput. Just make sure it's regulated.

Read the Lilliput FAQ thread too. It'll help you out.

the screen was probably fine. my friends egg shorted out and burned up just like you described. you just killed your lilliput when you could have bought a regulator for $5 or $10.

DONT PUT HIGHER RATING FUSES IN LIKE WAS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED!

why the hell would the screen draw anymore than 1 amp? geez.
CarPC install is starting to come along again...

sure. It's alright, we all learn from stupid mistakes. unfortunately this was a very expensive screen. don't even get me started on all the PW-X series psu's i've fried.

Just ordered the Xenarc 7" touchscreen. What is the best way to power this screen besides plugging it into the cigarette lighter? I don't have a DC-DC power supply on my PC in the trunk. I have a DC-AC inverter.

When you guys say the egg, are you talking about the car power adapter? Guess the best thing to do is run the car adapter off the psu?

I've powered my Xenarc from the ACC wire. This is basicly running it from the battery, I didn't have any problems with this. An easy 12V DC-DC is to get a TI 5071 regulator to power the unit. It's real easy to wire up...three wires Vin, Vout and ground.

well the original worked,, and im not really in the mood to fakkin wait 2 more weeks to send it BACK AGAIN then send me another poor quality lilliput. I think in my opinion its just the lilliput quality,, they just are not made too well.. my father works with manufacturers in china and has been to a lot of assembly lines.. and though its the best place to get cheap labor he has said there quality isnt the best.

Im sure the same holds true for the Xenarc,, but rarely do i ever hear probs with the xenarc like i do the lilli,, maybe its just because not as many people have them and put up the extra cash for one. Though im highly considering it at this time.

:edit: BTW what did you end up doing?
    throw a moon
