Other issues:
They get much hotter than the small screens.
They aren't designed to handle as much vibration. If not mounted properly, it WILL crap out on you. Probably need to be molded into the dash, not on an arm or something.

Friend of mine started out this way. 15" CRT in the car. I believe it was a Sentra. Oh my god he cut the **** out of the dash just to get that thing to sit in there right...Originally Posted by pimpJ

I think that was the best argument on 15", don't mean to flame anyone but heat is not a problem, power consumption is defenetly not a problem, the screen craping out because my subs are shaking the panels off my car is might be a problem but not imidately if i buy a extended warranty for it. If it realy becomes a problem i will take it out and replace it with the elcheapo tiny screens that costs a fortune and break all the timeOriginally Posted by lawrence
. Glare won't be a problem either cause i will not use the screen while driving (cause it would be right in my face and i won't be able to see where i'm going). My primary use of the carPC is tunes, movies, games, maybe wireless internet. I won't be putting nav. on it cause i realy don't need it.
Because there is no touchscreen, and using a mouse while you drive can get you killed.
Get a nice balanced 10", small enough to fit most dashes, but still big enough to impress the ladies like this one here

I'm serious about putting a 15" in my car, i would realy like someone to prove me wrong to make sure i'm not doing the wrong choice. So far, there have been good agruments but i need something solid. Thanks for your input tho, ur right, maybe a 15" is a big too big, i like ur opinion, i'm going to borow a friend's 15" LCD just a feel of what it looks like. greatly apreciated![]()
Hey bud, you're right. I missed that.Originally Posted by Nicorolla
It will actually cost you less to buy a 15" over a 10" because manufacturers produce and sell a higher volume of 15's compared to the 10's. IMO a 15 is overkill, and won't fit right unless you drive a hummer.
If your 15" plan doesn't work PM me for details about a company and pricing from a manufacturer that offers a 7 year warranty on a touchscreen that won't break ... and if it does at least you'll be covered for the next 7 years.
Well, are you planning to play with it during sunshine? The majoritory in-house LCD are not bright enought to be display outside. What you would get is either extremely washed out image that could hardly make out the color white from gray or you can't even see the screen at all. Find out the NITS on the screen.Originally Posted by Nicorolla
I have my brightness and contrast turned down ( Yes Down) as far as they will go... It is still bright as hell. The only 'trouble' I have is viewing angle and it is not a big thing. 14" MAG desktop powered from a PC power and Cooling DC-DC PS. I wish I could find another one for the same price.Originally Posted by nl4jy
