I finally got my PCI Radeon 7000 installed. I had to upgrade to WinXP because Win2000 kept reinstalling the onboard video for some reason.
Ive read some conflicting info about which wires go where. Ive tried a few different ways but havent gotten anything to show on the screen. I'm attempting to connect my VGA cable directly to the CN4 connector that goes to the main LCD board.
One possible issue is my power supply. The offical sony supply is 7.5V/3A. (The Sony adapter normally provides power for the LCD and the PS1 itself.)The AC/DC adapter I got from radio shack is 7.5V/0.5A. I figure it should supply enough current to run the LCD. My multimeter says its putting out 8.2V but I cant get a current (amperage) reading from it. The screen does flicker slightly when I plug it in.
I bought a VGA extension cable with 15pins inside. I cut the cable, stripped each wire, and tested for continuity with the socket. I believe I have correctly identified each wire.
These are the connections I have...
Name -- CN4 -- VGA
+7.5V -- 1 -- wired to DC power socket
GND -- 2 -- wired to DC power socket
Csync -- 3 -- 13(Hsync) and 14(Vsync)
Red -- 4 -- 1
Green -- 5 -- 2
Blue -- 6 -- 3
GND -- 7 -- 6, 7, 8
DDC -- 12 -- no 9 pin, 12 or 15 maybe??
If I plug the LCD in while windows is running, should I see some distorted image on the screen? Or will nothing show up until I have configured Power Strip?
Its an offical Sony NTSC screen. Thanks for any advice you can give me...
