I have a 7" lilliput and I used to use a universal camera mount (from parts express) to hold it in my celica. I replaced it with the "digitalww screen everybody else has" because it would look more professional...
It took me HOURS to get in there. I don't do vehicle installs for a living, but I do know what I'm doing. Firstly, the screen unit was slightly larger than the opening in the dash molding. That made me have to remove the plastic bezel from the digitalww screen, and drill new holes in my mounting bracket in the sash to move the lcd hosing back.
the finnished result is the screen slightly recessed but overall I am happy with how it came out and it does its job fine.
Anybody else here grief like this?

Eh, I used velcro for a while. Really chapped my ***.
So I fiberglassed it in.
I do understand though, stuff don't always fit perfect and it just ****es me off, so I do all my stuff custom.
Do you have a pic to show what your talking about?

Doesn't sound like much of a nightmare if you're satisfied with the results. Nightmare usually means that everything goes wrong and you're screwed. What you describes sounds to me like, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like 'hard work'.

Yeah, "nightmare" normally means smoke from an expensive part. Sounds like you had the "easy" solution, the cleaner install is ALWAYS more work. Heck I could duct tape an LCD to a dash for FREE - cause it's easy.Originally Posted by Chairboy

I am a newbie trying to outfit a couple cars with new custom consoles and mini ITX. Click here for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche project.
Yeah, I was left thinking.....'Where's the terror in that?'. Feel fortunate that everything works. Many many threads I've read where hours were spent and it didn't work. Good luck with your setup.

Go ask PacMayne, he can whip up a story for you.Originally Posted by Bodgy
