    Loss of Picture Quality

    Hi all

Im currently testing my carpc on the desk, a P4 2ghz running on a gigabyte motherboard with the 865G chipset(intel extreme 2). When i use the standard wire on its own with the 8" lilliput, i get a lovely picture. But when i add in my 3 metre extension cable, the picture quality worsens, not badly but enough to annoy me!
I am currently using the onboard graphics, would my situation improve if i added an AGP graphics card, working on the basis this might give out a stronger signal?

ps even though i have an AGP card hanging around, i cant test, as i blew the Vcore up on the gigabyte motherboard(handling it a bit too much, teach me not to wear a strap when fiddling with motherboards in my front room!) and am waiting for a new motherboard, although this one is MSI and will have VIA savage chipset(dont know if it this will make a difference)

    Thanks, any help appreciated

    James

Basic troubleshooting tells us that if the situation is present with the extension in place and the situation is not present when there's no extension, then the problem is most likely the extension cable.
Get another/better one and see if that resolves your issue.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

on my work PC i get a lot of distortion (pixel jumping some sync problems) on my LCD using the onboard intel extreme, when i popped in a PCI video card it worked fine. I think it has to do with the video card itself
