VGA to NTSC/PAL Converters

I've seen several option for a motorized in-dash screen that was NTSC/PAL.. would using a VGA to NTSC/PAL converter deteriorate the quality too much to make it worthwhile?

There are screens in both formats here. The problem is that any technology that is not VGA will be bad for text.
