    Lilliput 7" or 8"?

    First post to this forum

I'm looking for a touchscreen and it seems to me that Lilliputs have a lot of problems but they are almost half the price compared to Xenarc so I'll give it a shot.

What strikes me is that the most popular screen is the 7" WS. Why is that? You can have a quite bigger 8" 4:3 for very little extra. Is the 7" better in any way? I can't understand why you want the 7", so please enlighten me before I buy.

Part of the reason is price, part of the reason is that the 7" widescreen fits very conveniently in a double-din slot, part of the reason is that there's support for the 7" model simply because so many people on this board use it.
For me, the 8" wouldn't work simply because it's too big to fit in the DIN slot for a fold-out screen.

Like RPI Geek said... And I think the 8" is a little bug for the front, but that's just my opinion.

Don't know about the lilliputs but the 7in Xenarc i bought is impossible to get to display the native resolution, which is 800x480. I have to run it at 800x600 and things are all out of proportion (circles look like ovals).

I wish I would of went with the 8in which is a 4:3 display and has a native resoltion of 640x480.

I got the 8 in. Lilliput because it actually fit better in my silverado. It works great too. The Chevy's are 1.5 din so the 7 in wont fit either. The 8 in is just about perfect if you move the a/c controls. If you can fit the 8", I say go for it. It's newer so I think that is one of the reasons that a lot of people don't have it.

Do the Lilliput 7" have this problem? And can it be compensated for in programming?

My 16:9 widescreen TV can show a square picture in a variety of modes. Do these monitors?
