Its been a long time since I messed with disabling on board video. You have to follow a certain sequence and I don't remember what it is. Start in Safe Mode to get your video back.
I was disabling my onboard video from the
Control Panel/Settings/advance/Adapter and then shut down installed the PCI slot VIdeo card and Booted up. It reconized the new PCI video card and THen booted up. It showed the Compaq Screen and I get a Black screen I hear windows Start up Music but no picture. So then I remove the PCI card and See if It will start up with the onboard but I get the same black screen. It is a Compaq deskpro en 1ghz.

I had something similar happen to me when installing my PCI video card. Turns out that the computer Display setting recognizes both the onboard video and the PCI card as legit video. I had to hook the CRT up to the onboard video port to get the video picture. After that, I went to Settings-->Display and switched the primary screen to the PCI card. Then rebooted and that fixed it.

Ouch. Before I somehow magically figured out how to set one as primary, I got stuck in the same loop as you and eventually had to reload the operating system, use the onboard VGA, load the PCI drivers, set the PCI board to primary, then turned on mirroring and then I could use both outputs.Originally Posted by Boostz21
But as I said, I had to reload the operating system to do it. I couldn't reboot in safe mode either.
