hmm.. doesn't seem to be the same if you look at the specs..
the one you posted (without touch screen)
yours has got only 640x480 whereas the avatar is supposed to have 1024x768 (i doubt this is the native resolution) and yours has got 150:1 contrast whereas the avatar is supposed to have a contrast of 350:1
but it relly looks the same and both claim to have sharp panels inside![]()
wonder if this one is better than the 8" Lilliput
cheers

just figured out that the lilliput screens also claim to have a sharp pannel inside, so i guess sharp didn't make thousands of different 8" screens to sell them all so cheap.. so this is probably just the same thing as a lilliput in a different case (with maybe stereo speakers, which we don't need in a carpc setup anyway)
i still didn't really find reliable specs of any of these screens.. contrast ratios differ somwhere between 150:1 and 350:1 and brightness is claimed to be somwhere between 200 and 300 nits
the funniest spec thing i've seen: one of the sellers even claims the screen to have an 16:9 ratio(while it is clearly a 4:3 as seen on the picture too
)
same thing by the way with my 7" lilliput.. i used to have a 6" screen from earth lcd (nec panel + controller without case or anything) and this one was supposed to have 350 nits.. my lilliput was supposed to have 400nits brighness but was not even half as bright as the earth lcd screen (but their support sucks so much, that i didn't want to get another lcd panel from them)
cheers

I also just saw this screen on EBay and was hoping to find some info here. I ordered one and will be trying it out with a cheap used laptop, as an interface to my Homeseer computer using NetRemote. If it works out OK I can use a few of these around the house. I figure they will be cheaper than using Axim x50v's and have a bigger screen.
Also, looking at the picture it seems that these may have a TV tuner built in also (channel up/down buttons and it says monitor/tv on case).
Let us know how you like it when you get it.
I received it quick (a few days), but all I get is a whitescreen when I hit the menu button (for screen adjustments) or attach an input signal to it. Got an RMA and am waiting again.
I hopefully will get a good one at some point, but I am leaning toward another idea - I may get a nice screen like the Samsung 17" and use a trackball for input and get basically the same functionality with a much bigger screen. I'm mainly doing my home automation stuff now until I can start fiberglassing the rod in Spring...
