Ah ok. I think I've got it now. Waiting for the motherboard to come in now so I can check out where the connections are. Thanks for the help!

LVDS to Motherboard connections - Need to run this by somebody to make sure I have the right idea.

On the 40 pin LVDS connector on the Commell LV-673 motherboard - It looks like the odd numbered pins are for driving it via single channel(?) so I guess I would wire up that side to the corresponding pins on the LCD.

Any idea what LVDDCLK and LVDDAT do? I don't see anything that corresponds on the LCD, so I think it'll work fine without those. Only pin I'm missing input from the motherboard for is the scan direction selector, but I guess I'll wait until I see how the LCD is oriented first and then hardwire that to high or low.

motherboard pinout (sorry for the lack of formatting)

I am thinking of getting an lvds panel from evision displays as well (they have up to 700 nit monitors now btw), but I have a couple questions.

First, what type of cable would I need to use to extend the hirose cable about 6 feet?

Second, the pinout for my sp13000's lvds connector doesn't really look like the one above. The pinout is in the pdf file in the link below, page 45 of the pdf or page 37 of the actual manual. I can't seem to find a definite resemblence to the pinout above for the three video signals.

And if you know where to find the 50 pin connector I need please tell me that too. Thanks

The cables are usually custom wired since the pinouts will differ on both sides of the cable- first, get the appropriate connectors: 1 for the motherboard side and 1 for the lcd side. Then wire it up with some 28 gauge wire and crimp into the connectors. Make sure you twist the signal pair wires.

The connectors should be listed in the manuals for the LCD and mobo. I didn't see a connector listed in that manual for the motherboard, so you may have to call them for that and to get the description of what each signal code on the table stands for. They don't even have the polarity of the pins listed, so it would be a pain to guess at it, especially while you are trying to make a connector at the same time.

Is this possible? I have a single board computersee attached .PDF with lcd and crt support, I have the lvds controller and the 15" touch screen that all came together as an industrial PC. The motherboard has two plugs for the lcd, a 44 pin and a 20 pin connector that go to the lvds board. This PDF gives the pin-outs from the motherboard.

Now for the question.....Is there any way to convert the 44 and 20 pin connectors from the controller so that I could use the screen with other setups? maybe like a DVI?

    ----- EDIT-------

The PDF was to big to attach so here is a link.

I did have a Compaq laptop in my car which I separated the 14.1" LCD from and put it in my dash. It looked great but for the year and a half or so that I had it in there, it was nearly nothing but trouble. Extending the crazy small ribbon cable was a tedious nightmare and I'll never do it again. But I could not find any sort of wire diagram for the LCD in order to connect it to something other than the laptop it was intended for. I'm surprised I made it work but the fragility of the screen and its connections and cables proved to make the use of the screen impractical. The picture was definetely sharper and brighter than the 12" I have now.
    Good times!

I have an lvds screen working in my car, but I need to add backlighting......guliano, I saw you mention controlling a pwm inverter with a 555 circuit, do you know if this would work on multiple inverters? I'm looking to use 5 dual inverters on 10 ccfl's, but I am hearing all kinds of negative things about a config. like this.....I would apreciate your input....

How much would this board be?

I would be very interested if the price was right.

What about the MSI cards with "Integrated dual LVDS Transmitter supporting LCD panels up to 2048x1536". Can I actually use this instead of going out and buying an expensive controller card?
