How is it powered? DC "egg" regulator, AC adapter or computer P/S?

Those stock "egg" dc adapters aren't very good. I would try testing it out by running an extension cord to your car and using the AC adapter to power the screen it to see if you still get the lines when the engine is running. If it's clear with the AC adapter then I'd look for a better DC regulator.
