I cant believe I had to read all these pages to get no answers to Elantra's Question, and in particular nottastocka's question to Cybergaron about How much his screen was, and was it touch screen. Im new to this scene, and have found fantastic information on the forums, until this thread.

No thanks to o1331, and all the fools who joined in, you just wasted half hour of my time..find an instant messanger to have your little bicker.

Well, if it's any help, I'm using a kit from this guy: http://www.tmz.com/wrx/ to fit my LCD fairly flush

It's a double din unit with replacement casing for the LCD and should fit into any car with a double din slot and Japanese-style radio fittings (ie. the kind where the radio is secured by two or four bolts into each side of the casing). I don't know what Korean cars use, but I heard it fits sucessfully into a VW Golf. (oh noes! another non-Lexus ****box! )

    His install:

My install so far (I got the black version):

Don't know it's what the OP was looking for but it's what I originally intended to post, I just got sidetracked as this thread became a train wreck. Hope it's useful to someone

My possesions can suck all they want, that's not my point. My point is that you're a great judger by possesions, which is a ****ty thing to do.

Well, atleast you'll know how to get around japan when you go there
I know what you mean about foreign maps. Some Soarers also had jap maps also, and when they came to australia then became useless
How does installing a carpc in a certain car not look good for the hobby? We're all here to share our experiences so we can improve on it and help each other out. Oh..and a 95 Sc isnt the greatest thing in the world either....just like someone with a 2005 7 series probably thinks my Lex is a POS too. The point is who the hell cares. Whats the big deal if someone wants to put a carpc in their car...does it make your carpc look less "leet" to other people?

Huh... I was attacking the posessions, not the person

You tend to associate things that you see. If someone sees some POS with a carputer, they'll think that the carputers go into crap cars. Pretty easy. Just like the reason we hate ricers.

Thanks Lum, at last an informative post arrives on this thread!! Very helpful, followed the links, that guy has got a pretty good thing going there..(http://www.tmz.com/wrx/)

Unfortunately I dont have a double DIN space in my vehicle.. 99 Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 Clubcab (its an Australian model), so will probably have to mould the entire bottom of my console to suit, getting rid of the ashtray and lighter socket. Guess I could get that frame and bezel and try to mount and mould around it.. Tough job to make it look anything like stock though! Any ideas for this?

You dont need to be 18 to have the title in ur name. Mine is the only one since i got it at 16.
And the Lex really dont do it for me. Inside is pretty weak looking and the outside is ok. But really know anything newish is pretty weak and the older you go the better (except for a fine few).
Personally tho i love GMs. Great for playing around since parts are cheap, great looks, lots of choices. They got something for everyone.
Now the only thing "against" 0l33l/Lex is that you are just stuck in that car. You like it and that great, but dont hate on others just cuz u dont know any better.
Go play around with a 350 or 429 and learn about some real muscle.

All cars are great in there own lil way(except for vw bettles).

    Fun stuff man.

Oh yes, I forgot to add, the kit will also fit in a Nissan 200SX S13 (180SX in the USA I beleive) but only upside down. Fortunately the screen can be detached and flipped.
http://www.lum.co.uk/carputer/TestFit.jpg shows it roughly in place, it's not mounted just wedged into approximately the right place.
BTW, the kit is based around the Liliput so those who want a decent screen are out of luck . I believe he's working on a Xenarc based kit soon

Damn... everyone else told me otherwise. But I don't really care who has the title for now... it'll probably look bad for my college scholarship search

The outside needs some mods, like the 97+ conversion.
