Backlight cables can be extended without problems, only take care since the cables between inverter and CCFL use high voltages, so use proper cabling.Originally Posted by _dopehead_
Extending the other cables is somewhat more difficult: Depending on the cables used you have to solder it yourself. There are some extensioncables available, or you can make one yourself, but it requires some soldering skills.
I did it once myself (to get an old TFT on a overhead projector, so it's now a beamer). A micro soldering iron is advised, since I had to solder 20 wires on a 1 cm width cable (0.5mm connectors.. so its small)
The regular FFC extensioncables can be found on some DIY-beamersites, like www.lumenlab.com and/or www.diybuildergroup.com
The connectors and cables itself can be ordered at Farnell. (dunno about USA shippings). My screen needed a 20pins 0.5mm dotpitch cable/connector, which my local electronics shop ordered for me at Farnell ( www.farnell.com ), productno 3078413 (connector) and 3295035 (cable)
