Xenarc fuse and power help required

I have a xenarc board with a blown 3A pico fuse which annoyingly have to be bought in packs of 10 at 80p each! (i hate that when you only need 1). I was wondering if it was safe for me to replace the axial fuse (looks like a large resistor) with a fuse holder and regular quick blow fuse (to make it easier to change if it goes again) or would this be risking damaging the circuit as the axial fuse is a super fast one?

Also, does anyone know the polarity of the power connections to the board? My board has been removed from a digitalww case so has the regular socket removed and wires soldered on so i have no idea which is +ve and which is -ve.

Looking at the area the connector should be there is three contact points. The lower 2, furthest away from the ribbon cable, are soldered to one wire and the one closest to the ribbon cable has a second wire attached. I would be very grateful if someone could check the connection of these points to the terminals on the power jack and also confirm that the +ve on the jack is on the outside and thus let me know which of these contacts have to be connected to +ve and -ve.

I can't help you on the connector but I can't think of any reason why you can't replace the pico fuse with a fuse holder as long as you use the fast blow version of the same amp rating. I don't think there is anything critical enough in there that really needs the slightly higher response time. Just be careful making it fit.

cheers, yeah gonna be uber careful. Just went to RS with a list of parts - they have some tactile switches with caps that would be cool when i relocate them to the side of the screen but they had nothing in stock! uselss sods!

Can you point to a place where I can buy these fuses online (that ships to the US)? I've had no luck searching for them so far.

I got mine from www.rswww.com - dunno if they send to the US though. YOu want to search for an "axial fuse" with a 3 amp rating. I have just bought a pack of 10 so if anyone has trouble getting one i will send you some for cost + postage. Or if you want 10 let me know and i will pick you a pack up and send em over.

Also, you might try Xenarc or digitalww - they will have them.

Come on guys, someone must know the which power cables connect to which part of the main board. At least someone please tell me which wire is +ve ont he digitalww based Xenarc - i have a white one and a white one with a blue stripe.

PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSEEEEE i want to get this screen running so i can start fabbing my dash......
