Just got the 8" Lilliput (809GL-80NP)

8" TFT w/ touchscreen, it's farkin awesome. Everything connects through one port! RCA/Svideo in, vga/usb out, dc-in, it all goes through this one easy plug. Well worth the cash.

I am thinking about getting this screen and am in the market for an extra shroud. how is the detail on the screen? do you like it? any downs to this model? where did you buy this at. If you want to put how much you paid for it I would appreciate it but I understand thats a personal question and you dont have to answer. ;-)

If you get the drivers listed in the lilliput forum, just reboot after plugging it in and then install the drivers. The quality is pretty good, I had it connected to my Radeon 9800AIW, so it wouldnt do anything lower than 800x600 or between 8x6 and 1024x768. The fact that all the connectors go through one port located on the bottom of the unit is fantastic, I am building a slide bracker to mount the lcd in for quick removal, and this just makes it 10x easier. I probably need to turn on themes and get some better fonts, I don't use themes on my desktop for optimization reasons and consequently the text was a little blurry. Not unreadable, just a little blurry. Also, I've found that if you push on the back of the unit (lightly) above the input port and speaker, the text gets really shakey, like a small shielding issue. But as long as you dont push on it you're fine. The touchscreen was way off when I first connected it, but after the linearization and calibration it tracks like a dream.

One more thing, the video input autoselects the vga port now, I think I read somewhere that on the smaller/older versions it didn't.

    Any other questions?

I think I've seen them around, not sure where, here maybe?

I just tried 1024x768 and it seems actually a bit clearer than 800x600, text is smaller, but not as blurry, I don't know if that makes sense.

Have you tried using Powerstrip and 640X480. I believe that would give you one-to-one pixel mapping and the clearest immage.

Have you tried hooking anything up to the RCA inputs?

I can't get my 8" to recognize an NTSC source.
