And the answer is a resounding 'to not egg'.

With the egg, I was getting significant interference on my display (very noticable once I extended the video cable). And the egg was making this annoying warbly whine whenever the interference was present. I switched to powering the lilliput from my DC-DC regulator and the problem went away completely. Now I have a rock steady picture and no egg in sight.

Sounds good. Now I need to find some time to wire mine. My stock stereo didn't turn off when I took the key out, only after I took the key out and opened the door. Im gonna that wire and use it to trigger a relay that will turn the monitor off, but it will still be powered from the psu. Kinda like a remote wire on an amp.

    This is the problem...
hmm...just fried the "egg" for my lilliput
Look at the example circuits, then look inside the egg. There's something missing.

If you have an aftermarket stereo and use the same wiring harness, it'll continue to do so. I have the remote wire from my HU going to the ignition power for my amps and everything stays on until I open the door.

Apparently, blown eggs are worth money on eBay.
