Have you tried increasing the contrast in windows like I suggested?
Ok, after hours of reading and searching about 10.4 Allbrite I realized that I am looking ready-to-use one, because I am not so in electronic that I would know how to build everything together![]()
So, if someone is selling the whole setup (working one), I am really interested!
Or if there is any alternative (10.4, touchscreen, vga, high nits)...

Not yet.. I am sick right now and at home (that's why I have so much timebut I will try tommorow. I tried increasing levels on lcd to maximum but it didn't helped. So in advanced settings I only increase contrast (how much)? What about brightness and gamma?
I don't think this will help because problem is that I see myself in the panel - like mirror![]()
My Allbrite is just sitting on the shelf. I had thought of selling it a few times.Originally Posted by urosbe

Pros for selling it are:
- Money
- Shelf space
- It's a waste to let such a nice LCD sit on a dark shelf, it's made to be in the sun.
- By the time I get around to building a carPC (if I ever do), new high-brite LCDs may be avialable*. Probably with better specs, and possibly cheaper than what I might get for the Allbrite today. *(I believe that LCD manufacturers are taking a look at the niche markets, and we are likely to see some exciting new options in the next few years).
On the cons side:
- As soon as I sell it, I'll wish I had it back.
As a matter of fact, forget I even posted this. :P I don't want to sell![]()
Umm..okay. I might be able to reconsider. If you are thinking of trying to convince me to sell, here is a tip; Get a quote from Vartech Systems for a similar spec LCD first. Why? Well, so you won't choke when we talk about my price. I am not going to say anything about the price right now, but I'll say this; If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Here's what my 8" Lilliput looks like. First is running Roadrunner with the brushed metal skin. Second is running the Windows Media Center shell. The pictures were taken on the same journey and the MCE shell seemed a lot more readableeven with direct sun (the RR skin was invisible with direct sun). I'm driving around with it in place currently to get a feel for legibility and, hence my mounting options. I'm probably going to mount it very recessed with a big shroud.Originally Posted by Cruznlife1

Maybe I should take some pics on a dark and dingy day so you have a good reference point for how 'visible' looks on my camera. Yeah, it's not great. I drove all the way to work with the MCE shell up and found that it was more visible at the end of they journey (the above picture) than at the start (where the RoadRunner picture was taken). It's still more legible but mostly just due to a bigger, bolder font for the buttons.

I have it sitting properly down in the hole after cutting a few mm's of that lip off each side of the hole. So I'll be able to get a better feel for how it'll work at a better angle and with better shroud coverage.

Uh.. I've thought about this problem as well for my future plans and I've simply decided I will get my windows tinted.. lol.. Not that I really wanna do that as I like having a nice clear view.. But oh well.
Tinted windows is a must. My 8" lilliput is very satisfactory unless the sun is shining directly on it, in which case no number of nits could help me. I would recommend viewing the screen in daylight from various angles before installing. I changed my mind because the original spot on the dash was too exposed to winshield shine.(the worst cause it's not tinted) I am very impressed with the brightness of my lilliput, however. I was scared before i bought it, but I wasnt dissappointed.
