okay fellas and ladies (ya right who am i kiddin) here are some pics of 800x600 vs 800x480. You can thank Scouse for makin this happen
Okay first off some quick info. I am using a epia m1000 with a pny geforce5500
pci card. I am not using powerstrip or any of that jazz, it is as easy as setting it
in your display driver settings. well kinda, more info if requested.
To cut to the chase here are my quick feelings on 800x480.
After using both resolutions for regular computer use and frontends it really is a tough decision as what to use. Now there is no doubt about it 800x480 looks the best but you have to take alot of things into account. Like alot of apps just wont run at that resolution so either the app dies or the screen has to auto adjust (not a big deal but alittle getto in my opinion, just not profesional lookin).
But I will let you be the judge with the pics. All of the pics were taken with macro and at the same exact distances and angles because everything gets resized and shifted in the diff resolutions. (captain obvious) also images seem grainy because of the touch overlay but as you know it is not obvios in person.
In the examples you will see the jagged lines around the buttons when you adjust a skin that is not made for your resolution.(ie if you resize in frodo player with inproper resolutions) I think it looks worse in person then it does in the pics.....(once again just not profesional lookin)
Okay first pic is for you Antimator as I know you and i for that fact would love to see this some day with via onboard graphics.
